Las mujeres en el siglo XVIII. Economía, patrimonio familiar y transmisión de la propiedad en el mediodía peninsular (Reinos de Jaén y Córdoba)

Abstract

La tesis doctoral está dividida en cinco bloques. El primero expone el estado de la cuestión, los objetivos e hipótesis de partida de la investigación acerca del papel de las mujeres andaluzas del siglo XVIII al frente de la jefatura del hogar. Se analizan mujeres viudas, solteras y casadas de veintidós poblaciones de Jaén y Córdoba. En el capítulo siguiente se aborda la representatividad de las mujeres cabezas de familia y se realiza un estudio acerca de los modelos de familia, donde la soledad y la vejez fueron factores determinantes. Asimismo, se presta atención a las actividades laborales que desempeñaban, así como se ponen en valor los conflictos familiares y la condena moral a la que se encontraban expuestas las mujeres. El capítulo tercero analiza el patrimonio inmueble y semoviente: la propiedad agrícola y la explotación ganadera. Se establece una aproximación a la propiedad urbana y al endeudamiento a través de los censos, junto a la compra y venta de propiedades. Asimismo, el capítulo cuarto profundiza en el patrimonio familiar de las mujeres hacendadas e hijodalgas, las comerciantes y la pobreza. Por último, el capítulo cinco se adentra en los interiores domésticos: por un lado, las dotes permiten reconstruir el mobiliario, el menaje de las casas y la indumentaria; por otro lado, el mundo de los sentimientos y la afectividad se pone de manifiesto en el lecho de muerte, a través de los testimonios en los que se refleja la transmisión de los bienes a los seres más queridos.

The doctoral thesis is divided into five blocks. The first of which is exposed the state of the question, the objectives and starting hypothesis of the investigation. It is studied the role of Andalusian women of the XVIII century in front of the head of the household. It has been analyzed widowed, single and married women from twenty-two towns of Jaén and Córdoba. In the following chapter is discussed the representativeness of women heads of family, as well as the family models, where loneliness and old age were determining factors. On the one hand, it is observed the work activities and, on the other hand, the moral condemnation to women provoqued sometimes family conflicts. The third chapter analyzes the agricultural property and the cattle exploitation. It is established an approximation to urban property and indebtedness through censuses. Also agricultural work is described and also to the purchase and sale of properties. Likewise, the fourth chapter makes a distinction between families of poor women, traders and rich women as laundowners and nobles. Chapter five delves into domestic interiors. The dowries inform about the furniture and the kitchenware used in the houses, as well as the clothing used of the women. Finally, this investigation has established an approach to the world of the mentalities of widows, single and married women on the deathbed. The feelings and affectivity were evident in testimonies that revealed in the testaments, in the transmission of goods to the most beloved relatives.
