A negative stereotype about the old age is, for many sectors in the American population, a consistent and stable finding (Harris, 1975 and Tuckman and Lorge, 1953). The nature of the elder person stereotypes not only affects the way in which other age group members perceive and interact with the senior citizens, but it also influences the self-perception and behavior among the elderly subjects. In this article we intend to know the content of the stereotypes that senior citizens from Extremadura have towards their equals, and if the variables visits to the doctor and perception of their health status make an influence on stereotyping their equals. For this purpose, we passed a list of adjectives whichmeasuredt heheterostereotypes of theelder people and we registered the perception of their health and the visits to the doctor. From the analysis developed we can conclude that the variable visits to the doctor affects the way the senior citizen perceives and stereotypes other senior citizens, however, the perception of their own health status does not influence the stereotypical beliefs that they have towards their age group.
