How to do things with words en español: terminología, omisiones y adiciones

Abstract

Este artículo analiza algunos problemas de la traducción al español de How to Do Things with Words, de John L. Austin, principalmente los relacionados con la terminología, las omisiones y las adiciones, con el propósito de valorar su grado de desviación con respecto al texto original y de confirmar su tendencia a la domesticación, que suele ser la opción preferida en las traducciones de filosofía. El objetivo es plantear la conveniencia de una nueva traducción de esta obra para el ámbito académico hispánico.

This paper analyzes some problems in the translation into Spanish of John L. Austin’s How to Do Things with Words, especially those related to terminology, omissions and additions, with the aim of evaluating its degree of deviation from the original text and in order to confirm its tendency towards domestication, that is usually the preferred choice in philosophical translations. The convenience of a new translation of this work in the academic field of Spanish will be raised as the ultimate objective.
