Las celebraciones litúrgicas y procesiones en Trujillo entre los años 1587 y 1720 según los procesionarios

Abstract

El motivo de haber descubierto dos procesionarios en la sacristía de la Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Sierra y en el Archivo Municipal de Trujillo, uno correspondiente a finales del siglo XVI y otro al siglo XVIII ha sido motivo más que suficiente para realizar un estudio histórico-artístico y antropológico sobre las celebraciones litúrgicas en Trujillo en el período comprendido entre los años 1587 y 1720. Aunque hemos de tener en cuenta que en dichos documentos eclesiásticos se anotan las celebraciones que vienen desde tiempo inmemorial celebrándose en la Ciudad extremeña de Trujillo, algunas adquirieron suma importancia, participando el pueblo y el Cabildo en honor a imágenes de santos y vírgenes tan interesantes artísticamente como la Vírgenes templarias de la Coronada del siglo XIII o la de la Asunción.

The reason for having discovered two processionaries in the sacristy of the Church of Santa Cruz de la Sierra and the Trujillo Municipal Archives, one of them corresponding to the late 16th century and another one to the 18th century, has been more than sufficient reason to carry out a historical and anthropological study on the liturgical celebrations in Trujillo in the period between 1587 and 1720. Although we must consider that the ecclesiastical documents note the celebrations that come from time immemorial celebrating in the Extremadura city of Trujillo, some of them acquired great importance, taking part both people and the Cabildo by adorating images of saints and virgins very interesting in artistical terms, as the La Coronada Templar virgins from the 13th century or the Assumption Virgin.
