dc.description.abstract | With this article we try to do a snapshot of how Don Benito could be at the beginning of the second half of the nineteenth century. To do this we have interpreted the urban, demographic, economic, cultural and health situation of the newly appointed Town, analyzing the information provided by the 132 articles of the "Urban Police Regulations for the City of Don Benito", approved by the Council in 1862. We also obtained some information in other paralell documents as: the responses to the interrogative by the Real Audiencia de Extremadura in 1791; the report of Pascual Madoz, 1847; and the map of Don Benito by Francisco Coello in 1863, which have helped us to complete the analysis of the ways and conditions of living in this large community of the nineteenth century. | es_ES |
