To the east and southwest of the city of Cáceres extends one of the large granite patches that make up the extensive batholith of Cáceres-Linares. Very close to Malpartida, 1 kilometer to the southeast, there is an area well known by the people of Cáceres as a place of recreation: Los Barruecos. The granites here have exemplary forms comparable to the best examples of this type that can be used in the explanation of the modeling of these rocks. Bowls, taphonis, grooves, concave slopes ... coexist here in coarse-grained granites, with a fairly uniform size, where megacrystals of feldspar are not absent and with characters of marked acidity. |
