Algunas consideraciones sobre la agentividad en español

Abstract

La intención de este trabajo es justificar la función semántica agentiva y su relación con otras como la causativa o la afectiva. En la primera parte del trabajo se hace una revisión crítica de las pruebas formales dadas por varios estudiosos para determinar la presencia de un sujeto agentivo en una cláusula: se muestra, por ejemplo, que las pruebas más comunes para su diferenciación (como sustituir la cláusula por hacer o mostrar con modificadores modales el control que la entidad representada por el sujeto tiene sobre la acción) sólo son válidas en algunos casos y sólo deben utilizarse como criterios complementarios. La parte final del ensayo analiza y explica algunos de los contraejemplos que se han presentado en el estudio.

The intention of this paper is to justify the agentive semantic function and its relation with others such as causative or affecled. In the first part of the paper there is a critica! review of the formal proof given by severa! scholars to determine the presence of an agentive subject in a clause: it is shown, for example, that the commonest tests for their differentiation (such as to substitute the clause with hacer or to show with modal modifiers the control that the entity represented by the subject has over the action) are only valid in some cases and should only be used as complementary criteria. The final part of the essay analyses and explains some of the counter examples that have been presented in the study.
