El mito de Don Juan en la literatura belga: Charles Bertin y Suzanne Lilar frente a Tirso de Molina

Abstract

Este artículo trata sobre la influencia del mito de Don Juan en la literatura belga. A través del análisis del Don juan de Charles Bertin y de Le burlador de Suzanne Lilar. Ambas cosas obras forman parte de la tradición mítica iniciada por El burlador de Sevilla de Tirso de Molina. Esta obra contiene una serie de elementos que luego se convertirían en constantes del mito, como la seducción, la volubilidad y la muerte. Mediante un estudio comparativo de la obra española y de los textos belgas, este estudio analiza la referencia a estos elementos en el trabajo de Bertin y Lilar y examina su significado en la historia del mito y su evolución.

This paper deals with the influence of the myth of Don Juan on Belgian literature through the analysis of Don Juan by Charles Bertin and Le burlador by Suzanne Lilar. Both works are part of the mythical tradition initiated by Tirso de Molina's El burlador de Sevilla. This work contains a series of elements that would later become constant elements of the myth, such as seduction, fickleness and death. By means of a comparative study of the Spanish play and the Belgian texts, this paper analyses the reference to these common elements in the work of Bertin and Lilar and examines the significance of their work in the history of the myth and its evolution.
