"La Celestina": una llamada permanente

Abstract

La literatura bajomedieval española del siglo XV ofrece dos caras: Por un lado, una literatura cortesana, culta, estilizada, fija en unos modelos de expresión y significado dados, evasiva: La poesía de cancionero, la novela sentimental, por ejemplo. Y, por otro lado, una literatura abierta a las contradicciones políticas y culturales de su tiempo, agresiva, acusadora: Las coplas de Ay Panadera, del Provincial, de Mingo Revulgo, de la Vita Christi, y, en el sentido dialéctico de la literatura bajomedieval, la Celestina, de Fernando de Rojas. Pues bien, vamos a iniciar un acercamiento a esta obra literaria, tan leída y estudiada de todos, considerando dos aspectos, aspecto erótico y social, ambos mutuamente implicados en la obra.

Late medieval Spanish literature of the 15th century offered two faces: on the one hand, a courtly, cultured, stylised literature, fixed in given models of expression and meaning, evasive: the poetry of cancionero, the sentimental novel, for example. And, on the other hand, a literature open to the political and cultural contradictions of its time, aggressive, accusatory: the couplets of Ay Panadera, of the Provincial, of Mingo Revulgo, of the Vita Christi, and, in the dialectical sense of late medieval literature, the Celestina, by Fernando de Rojas. Well then, we are going to begin an approach to this literary work, so widely read and studied by all, considering two aspects, erotic and social, both mutually implied in the work.
