Aportación a la estética de la fábula greco-latina: análisis y valoración de la brevitas fedriana

Abstract

Nuestro estudio se circunscribe a la figura del fabulista latino Fedro y, más en concreto, a su tan manida -entre la alabanza y el desprecio- "breuitas ". El contenido de este artículo está dividido en tres grandes apartados. En el primero de ellos (estado de la cuestión) analizamos de forma concisa cómo el concepto de breuitas (en general, aplicado a la fábula y adjudicado a Fedro) ha estado siempre en tela de juicio. El segundo apartado reúne consideraciones sobre las "breuitas", en su doble vertiente de "compendiosa y selectiva", y por último, el tercero de los apartados se limita al análisis valorativo de la "breuitas" en Fedro en conexión con la tradición fabulística.

Our study is confined to the figure of the Latin fabulist Phaedrus and, more specifically, to his much-used -between praise and scorn- "breuitas". The content of this article is divided into three main sections. In the first one (state of the question) we analyze concisely how the concept of breuitas (in general, applied to the fable and attributed to Phaedrus) has always been questioned. The second section gathers considerations on the "breuitas", in its double aspect of "compendious and selective", and finally, the third section is limited to the analysis of the value of the "breuitas". The third section is limited to the evaluative analysis of the "breuitas" in Phaedrus in connection with the fabulistic tradition.
