Consideraciones sobre la orfebrería de Mérida en la época visigoda

Abstract

En este breve trabajo nos proponemos aproximarnos al valor del taller de Mérida que debió ser destacado, a juzgar por la documentación que se nos ofrece y la significación que el arte tuvo en otros órdenes, acorde con el auge en que vivió la ciudad, y concretamente su sede episcopal, en la segunda mitad del siglo VI y tal vez aún en el siglo VII.

In this brief work we propose to approach the value of the workshop in Mérida, which must have been outstanding, judging by the documentation that we are offered and the significance that the art had in other orders, in accordance with the boom in which the city, and specifically its episcopal see, lived in the second half of the 6th century and perhaps even in the 7th century.
