Gata (Cáceres): modesta iglesia y valiosa documentación

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza el origen y el proceso constructivo de la iglesia parroquial de San Pedro de Gata (Cáceres). Distintos estudios sitúan el inicio de la construcción del templo a principios del siglo XVI. Se describe tanto el interior como el exterior de la iglesia, y también se hace referencia a otras construcciones complementarias. Se aborda el proceso constructivo del templo sustentado en documentación nueva o ya conocida pero infraexplotada.

This article analyses the origin and construction process of the parish church of San Pedro de Gata (Cáceres). Different studies place the beginning of the construction of the church at the beginning of the 16th century. Both the interior and exterior of the church are described, and reference is also made to other complementary constructions. The construction process of the church is discussed based on new or already known but under-exploited documentation.
