Sobre el modo verbal en español

Abstract

En la primera sección de este trabajo se analizan las dificultades creadas por el estudio del modo verbal español. Más adelante, se realiza un breve estudio de las ideas lingüísticas que van alrededor del modo verbal desde los griegos hasta el momento presente. Se sintetizan diferentes actitudes y contra-ejemplos con las teorías mejor fundamentadas. También insistimos en la necesidad de utilizar criterios morfológico, sintáctico, semántico, textual y pragmático de una manera adecuada. Al final, y con carácter provisional, se propone una caracterización global del modo en los verbos en español, al pasar de la distinción entre la posibilidad de la alternancia modal y la falta de alternancia.

In the first section of this paper, are analysed the difficulties created by the study of verb mood in Spanish. Later on a brief survey of the linguistic ideas going around the verb mood from the Greeks to the present moment is carried out. Different attitudes are synthesized and counter-examples are offered for the best founded theories. We also insist on the need of using the morphologic, syntactic, semantic, textual and pragmatic criteria in a suitable way. In the end, and provisionally, we propose a global characterization of the Spanish verb mood, going from the distinction between the possibility of modal alternation and the lack of alternation.
