Los pueblos de las "Tierras de Montánchez". Episodios históricos y cambios socioeconómicos

Abstract

Teniendo en cuenta las escasas referencias históricas sobre los pueblos de “las Tierras de Montánchez” los cuales componían la antigua Encomienda de la Orden de Santiago, y el antiguo Partido de Montánchez, este artículo tiene la pretensión de dar a conocer algunos aspectos de la contribución de sus poblaciones a la historia de Extremadura. Estas notas históricas no pretenden ser exhaustivas dada la escasez de investigaciones sobre estas comunidades rurales y sobre la comarca, sólo se trata de una composición a partir de las aportaciones recogidas en diversas publicaciones poco conocidas, con objeto de servir a futuras investigaciones.

Taking into account the scarce historical references of village of the “lands of Montánchez”, which made up the old “Encomienda of the Orden de Santiago, called “judicial district of Montánchez” (Province of Cáceres in Spain), this article has the pretension to put in order and at the same time to makek nown the contribution of their populations to the history of Extremadura. These historical notes are not intended to be exhaustive given the scarcity of research on these rural communities and on the region, it is only a composition based on the contributions gathered in various little known publications, with the aim of serving for future research.
