Aproximación al "Ars memorativa" (1515) / "Artificiosa memoria" (1516) de Jacobus Philippus (de Ysabellis) Tridentinus

Abstract

El presente artículo se propone dar a conocer un Arte de memoria que, hasta el momento, había pasado desapercibida a los investigadores. Ni del autor, Philippus Tridentinus, ni de su obra, Ars memorativa / Artificiosa memoria hay, que sepamos, estudio alguno y ni siquiera referencias en volúmenes de conjunto sobre la mnemotecnia renacentista. Nuestra intención, por tanto, ha sido acercarnos a la figura de este humanista y sobre todo al contenido de su obra memorativa, comparándola con otros tratados de memoria coetáneos y del mismo ámbito centroeuropeo y viendo también la posible influencia que ejerció en tratadistas posteriores como Leporeo y Spangerberg.

This paper has the purpose of presenting an Art of memory that for now had not been studied by researchers. There is no study on the author, Philippus Tridentinus, or on his work, Ars memorativa / Artificiosa memoria, nor references in monographic volumes on Renaissance mnemonics. Therefore, this paper is an approximation to the figure of this humanist and above all to the contents of his work on memory. It is compared with other contemporary Central European treatises on memory. Is also analyzed the possible influence it exerted on later writers such as Leporeus and Spangerberg.
