La cobertura informativa del ascenso del Mérida C.P. a Primera División en la prensa extremeña

Abstract

El Mérida C.P. fue el primer equipo extremeño que consiguió el ascenso a la máxima categoría del fútbol español. Tras una fantástica temporada, el 27 de mayo de 1995 alcanzó la Primera División, rompiendo así con la inexistencia de equipos de Extremadura en la máxima categoría. Este Trabajo Fin de Grado tiene como objetivo examinar la cobertura periodística que realizaron los diarios HOY (Badajoz) y El Periódico Extremadura (Cáceres) de este acontecimiento deportivo. A través de una metodología cuantitativa y comparativa, se ha examinado el alcance que otorgaron a este hito, así como los principales rasgos formales y de contenido que caracterizó su tratamiento informativo. Los resultados demuestran que ambas cabeceras realizaron un seguimiento sobresaliente –mucho más destacado en HOY, que respondió mejor y con más rapidez al desafío informativo–, y que sus publicaciones respondieron a los estándares de calidad propios del modelo de prensa informativo-interpretativo.

The Merida C.P. It was the first team from Extremadura to be promoted to the highest category of Spanish football. After a fantastic season, on May 27, 1995, they reached the First Division, thus breaking with the non-existence of teams from Extremadura in the highest category. This Final Degree Project aims to examine the journalistic cover-age of this sporting event by the newspapers HOY (Badajoz) and El Periodico Extrema-dura (Caceres). Through a quantitative and comparative methodology, the scope that they gave to this milestone has been examined, as well as the main formal and content features that characterized their informative treatment. The results show that both news-papers had an outstanding follow-up – much more prominent in HOY, which responded better and faster to the informational challenge – and that their publications responded to the quality standards typical of the informative-interpretative press model.
