Entre el Barroco y el Clasicismo: Manuel García de Santiago, una nueva obra documentada para su repertorio

Abstract

El presente estudio trata de ahondar en la figura de Manuel García de Santiago miembro que conformaba la saga de los García de Santiago. Esta familia de artistas se asentó en Sevilla con la figura de Bartolomé García de Santiago a mediados del siglo XVII y mantuvieron su labor artística hasta principios del siglo XIX. Para ello se pretende realizar un vaciado bibliográfico al respecto sobre el personaje, analizando una nueva obra artística documentada a partir de su restauración en el año 2016. Se trata de la imagen de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, titular mariana de la Hermandad Sacramental de la parroquia de San Bartolomé de Mairena del Alcor, en la provincia de Sevilla.

This study attempts to delve into the figure of Manuel García de Santiago, a member of the García de Santiago saga. This family of artists settled in Seville with the figure of Bartolomé García de Santiago in the mid-17th century and maintained their artistic work until the early 19th century. To this end, the aim is to carry out a bibliographical survey on this figure, analysing a new work of art documented after its restoration in 2016. This is the image of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Marian patron saint of the Sacramental Brotherhood of the parish of San Bartolomé de Mairena del Alcor, in the province of Seville.
