In the most recent bibliography about this question, our language has been said to have only a possibility to suggest a disjunctive relation: the “o” conjunction. It can take two forms: the reiterative one, which stresses the exclusion and the non reiterative or non-stressing form. In this article, we try to show that the “disjunction”, as a concept, is not a binarian structure, because it exists a third non-conjunctive way: the “o sea” form, specifically used to point out the non-exclusion.The modal character of “sea” that implies the lack of engagement of the speaker with the truth of his wording, is the reason of his removal towards the non exclusive disjunction, wich tells nothing about the veracity of terms. Latin and some other romance languages suffered the same shift. The incompatibility of “o sea” with the copulative and the reiterative disjunctive coordinators, add to the tendency for the morphosyntactical fixing and the changes produced -when interpretating a sequence- if “o sea” is supressed or the subjunctive is replaced by the indicative, are some of the reasons to hold this theory.
