La expresión del color en un bestiario medieval

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el léxico sobre el color en uno de los pocos bestiarios medievales castellanos existentes; éste, a su vez, es una traducción de un texto francés escrito a mediados del siglo XIII por Brunetto Latini. Se comparó el texto español y francés con el fin de comprobar si sus estructuras y el vocabulario responden a la creación del traductor y su autor o si, por el contrario, son el resultado de una traducción literal. En general, parece que la expresión del color en este texto se transmite, sobre todo, a través de un simple adjetivación común acumulativa, reflejo de un texto fundamentalmente descriptivo de la tradición literaria medieval española.

This paper analyses the colour lexicon in one for few Castilian medieval bestiaries, which, in turn, is a translation from a French texto written in mid thirteenth century by Brunetto Latini. Both text, Spanish and French, are compared in order to check whether their structures and vocabulary respond to the creation of the author translator or if, on the contrary, the are the result of a literal translation. In general, it seems that the expression of colour in this text is conveyed, above all, through a simple, accumulative common adjectivation, reflection of a fundamentally descriptive text, within the tradition of Medieval Spanish Literature.
