This study is based on the possibility to prove the occurrence of grapheme norms in medieval manuscripts. Starting from Pidal' s comparative model and adding García de Diego's and J. A. Pascual's newest contributions to this field, the author of this paper considers the validity of Scriptology as an alternative method to the comparative one. This study has been carried out on a corpus of about 600 documents (13th century) belonging to the Carrizo Abbey in Leon (Spain). The graphic correspondence of all the forms representing the phonetic clusters -LY-, -K'L-, -G'L- y -T'L- are analysed and a taxonomy and evaluation of such a grapheme use is presented, including frequencies of occurrences in the lexical forms under study.es_ES
