Medida de la excelencia investigadora a través de los indicadores bibliométricos

Abstract

Se ha utilizado un conjunto de indicadores bibliométricos para estimar la excelencia investigadora de los países. El objetivo del trabajo fue investigar si era posible validar estos indicadores usando el número de galardones de Premios Nobel. El estudio encuentra que no hay asociación entre los indicadores bibliométricos (número de artículos, citas, citas por artículo, índice-h) y el número de galardones de Premios Nobel. En contraste, el número de artículos nacionales en los percentiles del 1 % y 0,1 % de los artículos más citados, sí que correlacionó con el número de galardones. Por tanto, el número de galardones de Premios Nobel puede ser utilizado para validar los indicadores bibliométricos.

It have been used a set of bibliometrics indicators, to estimate research excellence of the countries. This work aims to investigate whether is possible validate these indicators, using the number of Nobel Prize achievements. The study finds that there is no association among the bibliometric indicators (numbers of articles, citations, citations per paper, h-index) and the number of Nobel Prize achievements. In contrast, the number of national articles in the top 1 and 0.1 per cent most cited articles correlates with the number of Nobel Prize achievements. Therefore, the number of Nobel Prize achievements can be used to validate bibliometric indicators.
