Internet and social networks have become essential elements for many institutions that use the Web, whether to promote their products and services, or to disseminate information of quality. Health care institutions cannot and not must remain on the sidelines of this communication through the use of social networks, because a large portion of the population is seeking health information on the Internet. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to know the impact of social networks on the web sites of the hospitals best positioned in the five continents, according to the "Web Ranking of hospitals in the world" prepared by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Higher Council for Scientific Research, with the purpose of comparing the continents and detect if you are currently using social networks in the field of healthcare. The results show that America and Europe are the continents where there is a greater impact of social networks on the web sites of its hospitals, however, to a lower level than you might expect.
