Catholic liturgy has developed a spectacular language from Middle Age to facilitate the integration of devote in worship. The success of this formula was interfering with the liturgy. Para-theatrical and theatrical formulas cause the initial evangelization was replaced by the social identification and also the worship participation was replaced by the liturgy modification. We are going to use Extremadura’s culture exempla to seeing how medieval para-liturgical formulas developed theatrical forms with social significance. Corpus Christi, the great religious and social festivity, was a communita rian identification sign. This religious theatricality was disappearing due to the excessive distance with the original pastoral intention, and just we can appreciate today a few folkloric testimonies of that. |
