La figura del narrador en “Los Santos Inocentes”, de Miguel Delibes

Abstract

El narrador en "Los santos inocentes" es una figura original y compleja. Por un lado transmite, a veces de un modo irónico, su identificación ideológica y afectiva con el grupo social representado por los sirvientes. Esta identificación puede verse en el uso de ciertos recursos o el manejo del punto de vista. Por otro lado, su discurso combina características de lenguajes coloquiales y cultos. Esta mezcla de registros heterogéneos en la voz narrativa es una de las estrategias que se utilizan no sólo para transmitir la actitud del narrador hacia el mundo narrado, sino también para despertar la complicidad del lector, a fin de encauzar la actitud de este último hacia los personajes y acontecimientos de la novela.

The narrator in "Los santos inocentes" is an original and complex figure. On the one hand he is a narrator who subtly conveys, at times in an ironical way, his ideological and affective identification with the social group represented by the servants. This identification maybe seen in the use of certain resources or the handling of point of view. On the other hand, his discourse successfully combines features belonging to a spoken or colloquial style, with others belonging to a learned or literary style. This mixture of heterogeneous registers in the narrative voice is one of the strategies used not only to convey the narrator's attitude towards the narrated world, but also to arouse the reader's complicity.
