La iconografía inmaculista de Pablo de Rojas y su escuela en Granada

Abstract

El presente artículo analiza la escultura inmaculista del artista Pablo de Rojas, maestro de Juan Martínez Montañés y considerado uno de los iniciadores de la escuela granadina de escultura La producción de imágenes concepcionistas que se relacionan con este escultor no son muy abundantes, debido a que, por un lado, la cuestión inmaculista en la Granada del Quinientos aún no se había difundido con profusión y, por otro lado, a que por estas fechas, la citada escuela estaba todavía en ciernes y su creación aún no era tan abundante como en el siglo XVII o XVIII. A pesar de ello, establecerá un modelo de Inmaculada Concepción que sus seguidores extenderán por la geografía granadina.

This article analyzes the immaculist sculpture of the artist Pablo de Rojas, Juan Martínez Montañés master and considered one of the initiators of the Granada School of sculpture.
