Los azulejos de nombres de calles y numeraciones de casas de Cáceres fabricados en el siglo XVIII

Abstract

La Real Cédula de 13 de agosto de 1769 estipulaba la configuración urbanística de las ciudades del Reino de España y la necesidad de identificar las calles y edificios con azulejos. Esta medida, fruto de las reformas ilustradas, se enmarcaba en una reforma integral del sistema tributario. La Real Audiencia de Extremadura encargó en 1791 una serie de azulejos para la nomenclatura de calles y numeraciones de casas de Cáceres. La documentación revela, más allá del valor histórico y artístico de estas piezas cerámicas, las dimensiones de la ciudad en ese momento, sus calles y el número de viviendas.

The Royal Decree of 13 August 1769 ordered layout of the cities of the Kingdom of Spain and the need to identify streets and buildings with tiles. This law, consequence of illustrated reforms, was part of a comprehensive reordering of the tributary system. The Royal Audience of Extremadura entrusted in 1791 many tiles for the appointment of streets and numerations of houses of Caceres. The documentation reveals, beyond the historical and artistic value of these ceramic pieces, the dimensions of the city in this moment, his streets and the number of houses.
