Contribuciones a la escultura barroca del País Vasco: Martín de Allanegui (1654-1724) y el taller de Tolosa (Gipuzkoa)

Abstract

En este artículo presentamos nuevas obras del desconocido escultor guipuzcoano Martín de Allanegui, que rebasó los límites del taller de Tolosa, al que pertenecía, para trabajar a lo largo del País Vasco y Navarra a finales del siglo XVII y comienzos del XVIII. Aportamos nuevos datos sobre su biografía y entorno socio-profesional y damos a conocer su estilo y catálogo de obras. Entre sus intervenciones más importantes debemos destacar las tallas para las parroquias de Irun, Zestoa y Aizarna.

The present work deals with the figure of the unknown sculptor Martín de Allanegui, member of the workshop of Tolosa. His output is located in the Basque Country and Navarre in the late 17th and the early 18th centuries. The documentation we have found sheds light on his biography and social and professional environment, making his style and his work known. Among his most important sculptures the wood carvings we can find in the churches of Irun, Zestoa and Aizarna are worth highlighting.
