La institución libre de enseñanza y su relación con Extremadura

Abstract

La Institución Libre de Enseñanza o ILE fue uno de los fenómenos pedagógicos más importantes que se han desarrollado en España. Se sitúa en un lugar destacado dentro del campo de la Historia de la Educación manteniéndose viva como línea de investigación. Esta tesis doctoral centra su mirada en el marco de relaciones entre este fenómeno y Extremadura, orientando el objeto de estudio a un encuadre territorial específico. Con ello, el objetivo fundamental es analizar las conexiones entre la Institución libre de Enseñanza y la región.

Para la construcción histórico-educativa, se han obtenido fuentes de tipo primario y secundario de archivos históricos y fondos bibliotecarios tanto de la Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura como de Madrid, realizando una recopilación de más de trescientos documentos datados entre los siglos XIX y XX. Se ha utilizado el método histórico-pedagógico, llevándose a cabo un necesario proceso de crítica externa e interna de las fuentes, para posteriormente, analizar las ideas y episodios expresados en las distintas publicaciones, obras, expedientes, cartas, listados o actas, entre otra serie de documentos relacionados con el fenómeno de estudio.

Este trabajo examina la presencia de extremeños y extremeñas, no solo en la Institución, sino también en todos los proyectos y organismos ligados a esta. Así mismo, también se ha realizado un análisis de la huella dejada por la Institución Libre de Enseñanza en Extremadura, estudiando aquellas instituciones o iniciativas que mantuvieron enlaces constatables con la ILE. Ello ha permitido obtener una mirada global que confirma y explica esta relación.

The Institución Libre de Enseñanza or ILE was one of the most important pedagogical phenomena that have developed in Spain. It is placed in a prominent place within the field of the History of the Education keeping alive like line of investigation. This doctoral thesis focuses on the framework of relations between this phenomenon and Extremadura, orienting the study object to a specific territorial framework. The fundamental objective is to analyze the connections between Institución Libre de Enseñanza and Extremadura.

For the historical and educational construction, primary and secondary sources of historical archives and library funds have been obtained from both the Autonomous Community of Extremadura and Madrid, collecting more than three hundred documents dating from the 19th and 20th centuries. The historical-pedagogical method has been used, and a necessary process of external and internal criticism of the sources has been used, and later, to analyze the ideas and episodes expressed in the different publications, works, files, letters, among others documents related to the phenomenon of study.

This work examines the presence of Extremadura´s men and girl, not only in the Institution, but also in all projects and organizations linked to it. Also, an analysis of the footprint left by the Institución Libre de Enseñanza in Extremadura has been carried out, studying those institutions or initiatives that maintained links with the ILE. This has allowed us to obtain a global view that confirms and explains this relationship.
