Un procer extremeño del siglo XVIII: Juan Pablo Forner

Abstract

Es Juan Pablo Forner, uno de esos pocos humanistas que aparecen en la Ilustración Española para honra y prez de la región extremeña. Desde sus años mozos de estudiante salmantino, hasta los maduros de Académico, no deja de producir obras señeras en Literatura, Historia y Jurisprudencia. La pluma de este emeritense de pro, domina la prosa y el verso, el Derecho y la Filosofía, y en todos los campos desvela, con mano maestra y trazas de genuino artista, su profundo saber y docto decir. Desde sus relevantes cargos, insta a los Órganos de Gobierno, para que den un nuevo enfoque a la Docencia y a las Bellas Artes.

Juan Pablo Fomer is one of the few humanists from the region of Extremadura to appear in the Spanish age of enlightenment. From his student days in Salamanca to his mature years as a member of the Academy, he never stopped producing outstanding works of Literature, History and Jurisprudence. The pen of this worthy man from Mérida dominates prose and verse, law and philosophy and in all field demonstrates with a master's hand and the skils of a genuine artist, his profund wisdom and leamed remarks. From his relevant posts he urges the govemment to give a new focus to teaching and Fine Arts.
