Surrealismo y sincretismo en Juan Eduardo Cirlot

Abstract

El artículo revisa las diversas clasificaciones de la poesía de Cirlot que se hicieron tanto en su momento como en la actualidad, para sostener que es el surrealismo el factor recurrente en la versátil trayectoria del poeta. Ya desde los textos juveniles aparecidos en revistas poéticas como “Espadaña” —que fomentaban la estética “realista”— Cirlot supo evadirse de las directrices más fomentadas en la poesía española de posguerra, hasta encontrar su voz personal mediante el sincretismo de fuentes e “ismos” muy diversos. Para ello resultó esencial la libertad creativa que conllevó su relación con el Postismo y con el grupo vanguardista catalán “Dau al Set”.

This paper reviews different classifications of Cirlot’s poetry, which were made both during his lifetime and later, and which prove that Surrealism is the main recurrent factor throughout his versatile career. From his early texts, published in Poetry reviews such as “Espadaña” —where “realistic” aesthetic was promoted— Cirlot has succeeded in avoiding the commonly fostered guidelines used by Spanish post-war poetry, to the extent that he was able to find his own voice, by means of merging a wide variety of different sources and avant-garde movements. To this end, creative freedom proved essential, for it connected him with the “Postismo” movement and the avant-garde group “Dau al Set” in Catalonia.
