Cayetano y la controversia entre natural y sobrenatural. Una revisión textual de la cuestión

Abstract

A pesar de que el siglo pasado fue escenario de numerosos y acalorados debates sobre el binomio natural-sobrenatural, aún en la actualidad continúan apareciendo escritos que retoman y avivan la polémica. En particular, aparece la figura de Cayetano como uno de los mayores responsables de haber malinterpretado la doctrina del deseo natural de Dios en el Aquinate. En este marco de ideas, el presente trabajo pretende revisar y comparar la enseñanza cayetaniana –en especial mediante la lectura hermenéutica y crítica de ciertos textos clave– con la de Tomás de Aquino, para evidenciar hasta qué punto ambos dominicos se distancian doctrinalmente, a pesar de que la intención del Cardenal ha sido totalmente otra.

Although last century was the scenery of many and heated debates about the natural-supernatural binomial, even today there continues to appear writings that rehash and intensify the polemic. In this sense, Cajetan's figure becomes visible as one of the major persons responsible of misinterpreted the doctrine of God's natural desire in Aquinas. In accordance with these ideas, this work tries to verify and compare the Cajetan's teaching –specially by means of the hermeneutic and critical reading of certain key texts– with those of Thomas Aquinas. In this sense, it is tried to show up to what extent both dominicans are distant from each other as regards doctrine, in spite of being the Cardinal´s intention totally different.
