La pérdida de /ɲ/ en la provincia de Toledo

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la despalatalización de /ɲ/ en la provincia de Toledo, las diferentes realizaciones en que se manifiesta y la distribución de estas dentro de la palabra. De esta forma se evidencia: por un lado, los condicionantes del cambio —respecto a la tonicidad de la sílaba y el contexto fónico—; y por otro se concluye que son la comarca oriental de La Mancha, y una de sus localidades: Villacañas, las que poseen el mayor porcentaje de despalatalizaciones de la provincia. La primera evidencia certifica solo en parte la validez de la distribución propuesta por Moya Corral (1993) y la segunda sirve para clarificar la extensión geográfica del fenómeno en Toledo, estudiada parcialmente en la bibliografía (Moreno Fernández, 1988 y Molina Martos, 1998). Por último, se hace una pequeña mención al proceso inverso: la palatalización.

The objective of this study is to analyse the depalatalization of /ɲ/ in the province of Toledo (Spain), as well as the different realizations in which it appears and the dis-tribution of these realizations within the word. In this way the conditions of the change regarding the tonicity of the syllable and the phonic context are shown and it is also concluded that the oriental region of La Mancha and one of its towns, Villacañas, have the largest percentage of depalatalizations in the province. The first evidence certifies only partly the validity of the distribution proposed by Moya Corral (1993) while the second evidence is used to clarify the geographical extension of this phenomenon in Toledo, partially studied in the bibliography (Moreno Fernández, 1988 and Molina Martos, 1998). Finally, a small mention of the inverse process, the palatalization, is shown.
