Novelar filosofía. La autobiografía intelectual de Rosa Chacel y la vanguardia española

Abstract

La memoria tiene una gran importancia en los distintos registros narrativos de Rosa Chacel. Hay en su obra una serie de escritos en los que traza su autobiografía intelectual y literaria, y a la vez recuerda el papel desempeñado por la vanguardia en la creación de una atmósfera de modernidad que tenía como objetivo acercar España a Europa. Chacel participa en el movimiento inicial de la vanguardia española, el ultraísmo, pero inmediatamente después inscribe su narrativa en el programa constructivo del Arte Nuevo, que se sitúa al margen de la ruptura y la desestabilización promovida por los ismos europeos, desde el futurismo al surrealismo. Aunque se ha subrayado la influencia del pensamiento de Ortega y Gasset sobre esta escritora, no se han señalado aún sus deudas con el proyecto ético y estético en el que el filósofo sumerge a la joven literatura de la vanguardia. La prosa de Rosa Chacel, como muestra este artículo, contribuye a la transformación cultural, social y política de la vida española durante los años 20 y 30.

Memory has a great importance in the different narrative registers of Rosa Chacel. There is in her work a number of writings in which she traces her intellectual and literary autobiography, and at the same time she remembers the role played by the avant-garde in creating an atmosphere of modernity which had as an objective to bring Spain closer to Europe. Chacel takes part in the initial movement of the Spanish avant-garde, the Ultraism, but she soon registers her narrative in the constructive program of the New Art, which stands apart from the breakup and the destabilization promoted by the European isms, from Futurism to Surrealism. Although it has been stressed the influence of Ortega y Gasset’s thought on this author, her debts with the ethical and aesthetic project in which the philosopher immerses the young literature of the avant-garde have not been shown yet. Chacel’s prose, as this paper shows, contributes to the cultural, social and political transformation of the Spanish life in the 20s and 30s.
