Así era Cáceres en 1813

Abstract

Se presenta y describe un plano de Cáceres encontrado en el Servicio Geográfico del Ejército, que tiene la importancia de anteceder en el tiempo a los dos planos que se conocían de la ciudad en el siglo XIX, y que constituían las primeras representaciones de la misma. Se trata de los planos de Vicente J. G. Maestre de 1845, cuya copia se conserva en el Museo de Cáceres, y el que poco después hiciera Francisco Coello, mucho más detallado, pero más limitado en los bordes de la población que el que aquí se presenta. Este plano no es obra original. Al pie del mismo se especifica que es una copia realizada en 1822 por D. Antonio Talledo, y en la parte superior aparecen copiados el nombre del autor y la fecha: J. J. M. Baier, 20 de mayo de 1813.

This paper presents and describes a map of Cáceres found in the Army Geographical Service, which has the importance of preceding in time the two planes that were known from the city in the XIXth century, and which were the first representations of it. It is the plans of Vicente J. G. Maestre of 1845, whose copy is kept in the Museum of Cáceres, and the one shortly after Francisco Coello did, much more detailed, but more limited in the edges of the town than the one presented here. This plane is not an original work. At the foot of it is specified that it is a copy made in 1822 by D. Antonio Talledo, and in the upper part copied the name of the author and the date: J. J. M. Baier, May 20, 1813.
