The problems posed by the study of the late medieval coin and the more than necessary cataloging of many of the numismatic funds relegated in the basements of the Provincial Museums, find in the present work a decided and commendable starting point that puts in value those pieces not exhibited to the public, perhaps of little artistic or monetary value, but of undoubted historical interest as the numismatic legacy donated to the Provincial Museum of Cáceres by D. Vicente Paredes Guillén It is a work in which an important treasure of 236 Christian medieval coins, mainly pepiones and young people, hidden between the years between 1334 and 1337, is contextualized. At this time, the research on medieval Christian numismatics in the Iberian peninsula is far behind the analysis of the Islamic monetary coined during the same period. In the first part of this work is presented a tight and inexcusable contextualization of it both in the sociopolitical framework of the reigns of Fernando IV and Alfonso XI and the monetary system of his time. Following is an exhaustive typological analysis of the currencies under study and their different mints; extensive chapter that closes with the pertinent general conclusions. Finally, a canonical catalog is elaborated that includes all the analyzed coins.
