In the basilica of the Purísima Concepción de Elorrio (Vizcaya) several of the artistic trends that have marked the Spanish art of the second half of the XVIIth century are concentrated. With a more than evident delay with respect to what was being done in the rest of the Peninsula, the liking for the altarpieces from El Escorial settled in Elorrio at the end of this century in a further proof of the great importance that the models irradiated from the Court had for Spanish art, in general, and for that of the basilica that we analyzed, in particular. Together with them, we will analyze the influence that the Sevillian painting school, imbued with the most recent Mannerist and Flemish trends, had for the panels that they had to decorate the span of the altarpiece. Both cases, altarpiece and painting, are combined in our study to configure one of the most interesting artistic panorama of the province of Vizcaya, especially if we consider the few samples that of these styles are conserved in the churches of the area.
