La sillería coral de la Catedral de Plasencia: datos sobre su autoría y su cronología

Abstract

La sillería del coro de la catedral de Plasencia presenta muchos interrogantes que no sabemos responder. Se trata de una obra de Rodrigo Alemán, aunque su actividad aquí solo está documentada respecto de las dos sillas de los reyes y del facistol, según los contratos que se firmaron en 1497. Varios historiadores locales de finales del siglo XIX y principios del XX aportaron otras noticias que no han obtenido mucha repercusión aunque probablemente se basaron en documentos perdidos que no han llegado hasta nosotros. El objetivo del artículo es ofrecer esa información intentando aportar un poco de luz sobre este magnífico mueble.

The Choirstalls of Plasencia Cathedral presents many questions that we don’t know answer. It is a work of Rodrigo Alemán, although its activity here is only documented on the two chairs of kings and lectern, according to contracts signed in 1497. Several local historians of late 19th and early 20th century brought other news that had not much impact although they probably were based on lost documents that have not survived. The aim of this article is to provide that information, trying to bring some light about this magnificent furniture.
