Los comienzos del cine en Cáceres

Abstract

El presente artículo no es más que el primer avance de una investigación sobre el cine en Extremadura, desde sus comienzos hasta la llegada del sonoro. Se pretende incidir no sólo en las cuestiones eminentemente técnicas (duración-metraje, calidad de visión, color, música de acompañamiento), sino también en los hechos sociales que rodean a este fenómeno cultural: número y caracterización de las salas, empresarios, precios de las entradas, afluencia y tipología del público y, cómo no, los aspectos relativos a las normas de moralidad e higiene, a las intervenciones de la censura, etc. Para esta primera fase, que atiende a la ciudad de Cáceres, se ha utilizado como principal fuente de información la prensa local, conservada de modo fragmentario en todas las hemerotecas a las que hemos acudido. Las noticias no pasan de ser publicidad, con indicación de los títulos de las películas (no siempre), horario de las proyecciones, precio de las localidades y, en raras ocasiones, metraje, casa productora o algún protagonista muy conocido. De ahí que en esta breve introducción hayamos elaborado unas ligerísimas notas que preceden al listado de películas que hemos podido censar. Siempre que ha sido posible, aparece con el título de la película el local en el que se exhibía y la fecha en la que aparece reflejada en el periódico.

This paper is not more than the first advance of an investigation on the cinema in Extremadura, from its beginnings until the arrival of the sound. It is intended to influence not only the eminently technical issues (duration-footage, quality of vision, color, accompanying music), but also in the social facts surrounding this cultural phenomenon: number and characterization of the rooms, entrepreneurs, prices of the entrances, affluence and typology of the public and, of course, the aspects related to the standards of morality and hygiene, to the interventions of censorship, etc. For this first phase, which serves the city of Cáceres, the local press has been used as the main source of information, fragmentarily preserved in all the newspaper archives to which we have gone. The news does not happen to be advertising, with indication of the titles of the films (not always), schedule of the projections, price of the localities and, in rare occasions, footage, producing house or some well-known protagonist. Hence, in this brief introduction we have produced some very slight notes that precede the list of films that we have been able to record. Whenever possible, the place where the film was shown and the date on which it appears in the newspaper appears with the title of the film.
