Gabriel García Márquez y la Revolución de los Claveles

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza la visión que nos ofrece Gabriel García Márquez sobre la revolución portuguesa de 1974, al cabo de nueve años. El estudio, pese a centrarse en un texto muy breve, muestra la riqueza que se puede obtener con un interés doble: la importancia del léxico, rico tanto por su presencia como por la ausencia, y el juego de los ordenadores del discurso. Lo importante no es “qué” nos cuenta el autor, pues el lector ya lo conoce (como sucede con su “Crónica de una muerte anunciada”), sino “cómo” lo cuenta, para lo que hay que detenerse en los recursos lingüísticos y actualizar el contexto extralingüístico.

This article analyzesd Gabriel García Márquez’s view of the Portuguese Revolution of 1974, nine years later. The study, though focused on a very short text, shows its richness from two perspectives: on the one hand, the importance of the lexicon, rich not only because of its presence but also because of the lack of certain words, and, on the other hand, the use of discourse markers.

The important issue is not really “what” the author tells us, because the reader already knows it (as it happens in his “Crónica de una muerte anunciada”), but “how” he tells it, for which we must pay attention to the linguistic resources and discover the extralinguistic context.
