Aportaciones a la epigrafía latina del área caparense

Abstract

Los restos arqueológicos que nos han Ilegado, hasta la fecha, indican que el despoblado conocido como Cáparra constituyó un núcleo “urbano” de cierta importancia en el norte de la actual provincia de Cáceres. Sin profundizar en la hipótesis acerca de la existencia de un primitivo enclave vetón, hay que señalar el surgimiento de Cáparra como “mansio” de la Vía de la Plata. A partir de este papel primordial en el eje de comunicación Norte-Sur debió producirse un incremento de población paralelo a un engrandecimiento del perímetro urbano al mismo tiempo que una multiplicación de funciones político-administrativas.

The archaeological remains that have arrived, to date, indicate that the depopulated town known as Caparra constituted an "urban" nucleus of some importance in the north of the current province of Caceres. Without deepening the hypothesis about the existence of a primitive veton enclave, it is necessary to point out the emergence of Caparra as "mansio" of the Silver Route. From this primordial role in the axis of North-South communication there must have been an increase in population parallel to an enlargement of the urban perimeter at the same time as a multiplication of political-administrative functions.
