The territory of Medellín is characterized by the importance of the “dehesa” like form of exploitation. To facilitate the collection of the montazgo, in 1460 she was carried out a “vaqueamiento” of the same ones. This document has an exceptional value since it allows us to value its cattle capacity. The “dehesa” of the term could feed 24.385 cows (for the “alcabalas” of 1510 they were considered 25.585). This supposes some twenty cows for square kilometer, and some theoretical revenues of about sixty and eight thousand maravedís (“montazgo” of a 4 for thousand, equivalent to the payment of 2,8 maravedís for cow when being valued each one in seven hundred maravedís). The “dehesa” would suppose a fifth part of the whole territory of Medellín at least.
