Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome that affects in a generalized way, producing pain throughout the body. Its causes are unknown and in recent years the cases of affected people have increased, the majority being women. Early detection and personalized treatment are important to achieve greater effectiveness. The treatment must be multidisciplinary, combining three branches: “medicine”, “psychology” and “physical exercise”. In this way, it reduces the anxiety that results from being wrong for no reason and helps to set specific goals. After carrying out a systematic review of the literature, we inquired about this disease and its implication in the Podiatric field. Our objectives were to relate the FM with the feet, to know the best form of diagnosis, to determine podiatric alterations and to establish medical and chiropodist treatments. The results obtained indicate that patients with FM suffer from pain in their feet, difficulty in finding comfortable footwear, postural imbalance, digital deformities and alterations in walking. This disease causes a deterioration of health with pain and impaired functionality of the foot. The pathologies and deformities of the foot, without being characteristic of the disease, diminish their quality of life. With the palpation of eleven of the eighteen trigger points and the clinic of chronic and generalized musculoskeletal pain, the best diagnosis is obtained. There is also spontaneous muscle pain, fatigue and decreased physical activity. In short, FM requires a multidisciplinary approach and knowledge of the disease by all health professionals.
