El convento de la Concepción de Llerena en el siglo XVI

Abstract

El objetivo primordial de este artículo no es ilustrar con detalle el proceso constructivo y características arquitectónicas de un convento en Llerena. Nos proponemos, más bien aplicar a un caso concreto un fenómeno que se generaliza con insistencia en España a finales de la Edad Media y, sobre todo, en la época moderna. Se trata de vislumbrar el gran número de fundaciones religiosas y, por tanto, de construcciones arquitectónicas que tienen lugar en el siglo XVI como consecuencia del auge adquirido por los movimientos de reforma en esta centuria.

The main objective of this paper is not to illustrate in detail the construction process and architectural features of a convent in Llerena. We propose, rather, to apply to a specific case a phenomenon that is widely insisted in Spain at the end of the Middle Ages and, above all, in the modern era. It is about glimpsing the large number of religious foundations and, therefore, architectural constructions that take place in the 16th century as a result of the boom acquired by the reform movements in this century.
