El "Juicio particular de Felipe IV" de la catedral de Badajoz

Abstract

Nuestro estudio se basa en el “Juicio particular de Felipe IV”, obra que se encuentra ubicada en la Sala del Tesoro de la Catedral de Badajoz, bastante ignorada a pesar de su excelente calidad artística. Es un cuadrito de pequeñas dimensiones que contiene, sin embargo, un importante mensaje simbólico-iconográfico; por otra parte, nos muestra el dominio técnico de un artista plenamente capacitado. Nada sabemos de su procedencia, ni de su posible autor, y no presenta firma ni fecha alguna.

Our study is based on the "Particular judgment of Philip IV", a work that is located in the Treasury Room of the Cathedral of Badajoz, quite ignored despite its excellent artistic quality. It is a small painting that contains, however, an important symbolic-iconographic message; on the other hand, it shows us the technical mastery of a fully trained artist. We know nothing of its origin, nor of its possible author, and it does not present any signature or date.
