Análisis de la tradición clásica en la novela "El encargo (Der auftrag)", de Friedrich Dürrenmatt

Abstract

La novela “El Encargo” (Der Auftrag), del escritor suizo Friedrich Dürrenmatt, contiene alusiones al mundo grecolatino que son objeto de estudio desde la perspectiva metodológica de la Tradición Clásica. En efecto, la coherencia de la lectura profunda que se puede hacer del texto se ve reforzada por las reflexiones que el escritor hace sobre la “tragedia” y la “comedia”, de un lado, y por cómo se recurre a “nomina parlantia” de héroes homéricos como Aquiles y Polifemo, de otro. Tal lectura profunda permite comprender las contradicciones básicas que se dan entre la literatura y el cine y entre el arte y la vida. Así, la experiencia de la conjura planetaria como “ojo que todo lo ve” y la necesidad de “ser observado” responden a una propuesta artística, no a la vivencia cotidiana.

The novel “The Assignment” (Der Auftrag), by the Swiss writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt, con¬tains references to the Classical World which lend themselves to consideration from the methodological perspective of the Classical Tradition. In fact, the coherence revealed by a deep reading of the text is reinforced by the reflections made by the writer on “tragedy” and “comedy”, on the one hand, and the “nomina parlantia” of Homeric heroes like Achilles and Poliphemus, on the other. This deep reading further reveals the basic contradictions between Literature/Cinema and Art/Life. So, the experience of the planetary conspiracy as an “eye which can see everything” and the need to be “observed” arise from an artistic proposal, not daily experience.
