El sistema de parentesco en la Tía Tula: la estructura avuncular

Abstract

En su obra de antropología estructural, Claude Lévi-Strauss propone que el sistema de parentesco es uno de los medios más importantes para la regulación de las relaciones humanas. En este trabajo se estudiará la estructura de parentesco en La tía Tula, de Miguel de Unamuno, con el objetivo de destacar la importancia del avunculado, sistema en el que el tío es el centro de las relaciones humanas y sociales que se describen en esta novela de Unamuno. Estas relaciones se centran en la tía Tula, ya que es ella la que enlaza y refuerza las relaciones de consanguinidad, alianza y parentesco.

In his work on structural anthropology, Claude Lévi-Strauss prnposes that the system of kinship is one of the most important means for the regulation of human relationships. This paper will study the structure of kinship in La tía Tula, by Miguel de Unamuno, with the aim of highlighting the importance of the avunculado, a system in which the uncle is the centre of the human and social relationships depicted in this novel by Unamuno. These relationships are centred on tía Tula, as it is she who Iinks and reinforces the re­lations of consanguinity, alliance and parentage.
