La ambigüedad léxica y sintáctica en el "Sonnet Cli" de W. Shakespeare y su reflejo en las traducciones españolas

Abstract

La mayoría de las dificultades que surgen al traducir este soneto al español residen en las ambigüedades léxicas y sintácticas que Shakespeare distribuye tan cuidadosamente a lo largo del poema. Dado que una textura deliberadamente equívoca es la principal fuente de su estilo dinámico y versátil, los juegos de palabras, las argucias y el doble sentido en general no pueden ser pasados por alto, y mucho menos descuidados, por sus traductores. Desde esta perspectiva se evalúan aquí cinco de las principales traducciones al español del soneto.

Most of the difficulties that arise on translating this sonnet into Spanish reside in the lexical and syntactic ambiguities that Shakespeare so carefully distributes throughout the poem. Since a deliberately equivoca! texture is the main source of its dynamic and versatile style, the puns, quibbles and double entendre in general cannot be overlooked, let alone neglected, by its translators. It is from this perspective that fi.ve of the major Spanish translations of the sonnet are assessed here.
