Evolución histórica del colegio mayor. Del siglo XIV al XXI

Abstract

Estudio comparativo de los colegios mayores españoles desde su fundación hasta el presente. Reflexión sobre el origen de estos centros educativos en Italia, su trasvase a Castilla en 1401 en el Colegio de San Bartolomé (Salamanca), la enorme importancia política de los colegiales mayores a lo largo de la Edad Moderna y su interacción social en los siglos XVI, XVII y XVIII en la administración española, la reforma educativa de Carlos III, el cierre de estos centros en el siglo XIX y su renacimiento a lo largo del siglo XX, especialmente en tiempos de Francisco Franco y el Franquismo.

Comparative study of the Spanish “colegios mayores” from its founding to the present. Considerations on the origin of these colleges in Italy, the transfer of this educational model to Castile in 1401 at the College of San Bartolomé (Salamanca), the huge political importance of the collegiates throughout the Early Modern Age and their social interaction in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries on the Spanish administration, the educational reform of Carlos III, the shutdown of these institutions in the 19th century and its revival throughout the 20th century, especially in the times of Francisco Franco and the Franquismo.
