La capilla funeraria de los Altamirano en Santa María la Mayor (Trujillo)

Abstract

Los Altamirano, constituyen junto a los Bejaranos y Añascos, uno de los tres linajes a los que se adscriben las principales familias de Trujillo a mediados del siglo XIV. Este trabajo se centra en el estudio de la capilla funeraria que los Altamirano erigieron en la iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, lugar de enterramiento de las más importantes familias del lugar, en suntuosos recintos ricamente exornados, conforme al deseo de perpetuar la reputación de los grandes nombres de la historia de Trujillo.

Together with the Bejaranos and Añascos, the Altamiranos are one of the three lineages to which the main families of Trujillo belonged in the mid-14th century. This work focuses on the study of the funerary chapel that the Altamiranos erected in the church of Santa María la Mayor, the burial place of the most important families of the place, in sumptuous, richly decorated enclosures, in accordance with the desire to perpetuate the reputation of the great names in the history of Trujillo.
