Conservación y protección del patrimonio histórico-artístico en Úbeda (Jaén). Los inicios del siglo XX

Abstract

El rico y variado patrimonio arquitectónico de Úbeda (Jaén) ha sido objeto de numerosas intervenciones durante todo el siglo XX y XXI, destacando especialmente la labor efectuada por los arquitectos de la Dirección General de Bellas Artes (Ministerio de Cultura) y de la Consejería de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico de la Junta de Andalucía. Con este trabajo se pretende ahondar en las primeras restauraciones realizadas en la ciudad a comienzos del siglo XX, analizando la labor de arquitectos como Antonio Flórez Urdapilleta, Luís Berges Martínez o Leopoldo Torres Balbás, quienes actuarían en monumentos tan destacados como el Hospital de Santiago o la Iglesia de Santa María de los Reales Alcázares. Del mismo modo, se profundiza sobre algunas de las medidas desarrolladas en esta época destinadas a luchar contra el expolio y la destrucción del patrimonio local.

The architectural heritage of Úbeda (Jaén) has been the subject of numerous interventions throughout the 20th.-21th. centuries, especially highlighting the actuation carried out by the architects of the General Directorate of Fine Arts (Ministry of Culture) and the Council of Culture and Historical Heritage of Junta de Andalucía. With this text we try to delve into the first interventions carried out in the city at the beginning of the 20th. century, analyzing the projects of architects such Antonio Flórez Urdapilleta, Luís Berges Martínez or Leopoldo Torres Balbás, who would act in monuments like as the Hospital de Santiago or the Church of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares. In the same way, will be analyzed some of the measures proposed at this time aimed at combating the plundering and destruction of historical heritage.
